The Uttaranchal College of Health Sciences successfully organised an 8-day online Faculty Development Programme on “Research Writing and Intellectual Property Rights” from 22 July 2025 to 29 July 2025. The programme aimed to enhance faculty members' research writing skills and raise awareness regarding the significance of intellectual property rights (IPR) in academia and innovation. The inaugural session was graced by the esteemed Director of UCHS, who welcomed both participants and resource persons.
The FDP featured renowned experts in academic publishing, research ethics, intellectual property law, and patenting procedures. Each day comprised a 2-hour interactive session with follow-up Q&A discussions. Topics covered included research methodology, structuring research papers, plagiarism and referencing tools, targeting high-impact journals, fundamentals of IPR, types of IPR, patent search, and filing procedures. The programme emphasised hands-on learning, utilising tools such as Mendeley, plagiarism checkers, and patent databases. Over 25 faculty members attended the FDP. Participants appreciated the clarity, depth, and relevance of the sessions, expressing a keen interest in applying their newly acquired knowledge to future academic pursuits.
The programme concluded with participants sharing their feedback. Overall, the FDP proved to be a valuable capacity-building initiative.
