The NSS Wing of Uttaranchal University successfully organized a seven-day NSS Special Camp at Hariyawala Kalan, Shivpuri Village from 17 March to 23 March 2025. The camp was ceremoniously flagged off by Shri Jitendra Joshi, Chancellor in the presence of Prof (Dr) Dharam Buddhi, Vice-Chancellor and Dr Rajesh Bahuguna, Pro Vice-Chancellor who sent off the volunteers with best wishes and encouragement. The first day began with the grand inauguration by Gram Pradhan Smt. Rajni Devi and other respected villagers. Volunteers were oriented about the camp objectives, safety protocols, and schedules. An awareness rally was also conducted to introduce the presence of the NSS unit in the village, highlighting themes such as cleanliness, health, and digital literacy. The second day was dedicated to environmental awareness through a plantation drive. NSS volunteers planted a variety of saplings in and around the village school, community centers, and open spaces to promote green living and sustainability. Villagers, especially children, were involved in the activity to instill eco-conscious habits. The third day focused on child education and engagement. Volunteers conducted interactive sessions with local schoolchildren, incorporating storytelling, basic mathematics, hygiene practices, and recreational activities. Special attention was given to instill the importance of regular schooling and curiosity-driven learning. On the fourth day, the emphasis was on mental and physical health. Medical professionals were invited to conduct sessions on stress management, nutrition, first aid, and daily wellness routines. Villagers were also educated about common illnesses and preventive healthcare measures. On 5th day Volunteers organized sessions for primary school students on good touch and bad touch, helping them identify unsafe behavior and encouraging them to report any uncomfortable experiences. This was done through child-friendly tools like skits, posters, and interactive dialogue to ensure effective understanding. The sixth day was focused on educating the villagers about various government schemes and social welfare initiatives. Volunteers went door-to-door distributing pamphlets and held group discussions on schemes related to healthcare, old-age pensions, education, and women empowerment. Awareness about cyber security and digital frauds was also a key part of this outreach. The seventh day the camp concluded with a closing ceremony, which featured cultural performances, experience-sharing by volunteers, and words of encouragement by local leaders and university dignitaries. Certificates of participation were distributed, and the contributions of the volunteers were widely appreciated.
