The School of Agriculture, Uttaranchal University organized a three‑day educational tour for the students of B. Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture Semester VI students to the ICAR Central Potato Research Institute (CPRI) in Kufri, Shimla, from 1st to 3rd March 2025. The tour aimed to advance research on potato seed production technologies, and farmer engagement within a Himalayan agro‑ecosystem. CPRI is a non-profit scientific institution under the ICAR and working exclusively on potato crop.
The institutional visit enabled the students to become aware about the developed high yield varieties and technologies for potato cultivation and processing along with strategic research attributes. The visit also allowed the students to gain an insight of the institute’s state-of-art laboratories in the field of food technology, biotechnology, genomics, genetics and plant breeding, plant protection, soil science and agronomy, plant physiology, biochemistry, and post-harvest technology.
