On 27 February 2025, the Women Cell of UIM organized a seminar on Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH), followed by a thought-provoking social drama, at the Swami Vivekananda Auditorium, Uttaranchal University. The event aimed to raise awareness about sexual harassment and fostering discussions around its prevention. The keynote speakers were Dr Prachi Patwal (MBBS, DCH, DNB, PDF-Neonatology), Ms Harjit Kaur Lally, an educationist, and Mr Vinayak Sharma Swami, a social activist.

The seminar commenced with a formal welcoming of Shri Jitendra Joshi Ji, President, Ms Ankita Joshi, Vice-President, and all the dignitaries by Prof (Dr) Pradeep Suri, Director, UIM, followed by a lamp-lighting ceremony and the university kulgeet. In his welcome note, Prof. Suri emphasized that while harassment affects all genders, women remain the primary victims—facing discrimination at home, the workplace, and beyond. He also advocated for a shift in societal mindset, citing Indra Nooyi as an example of female resilience.

Prof. Dharam Buddhi, Vice-Chancellor, stressed that timely education reduces the need for legislation. Prof. Rajesh Bahuguna, Pro Vice- Chancellor, stated that the Vishakha Guidelines formed the basis of the POSH Act, reinforced by the #MeToo campaign.

The powerful drama Wo Shaam, directed by Pranav Malviya and performed by Akshita Bangwal, Parth Gautam, Misthi, and Manas Shah, effectively highlighted the issue.

Dr Prachi Patwal explained sexual harassment, prevention strategies, and the importance of the HPV vaccine. Ms Harjit Kaur Lally stressed the role of awareness in fostering safer spaces. Mr. Vinayak Sharma Swami reinforced that true change starts with shifting perspectives and attitudes toward gender equality. Ms Ankita Joshi commended the team for successfully organizing the event and presenting a powerful and impactful social drama.

The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Prof (Dr) Tilottama Singh, HoD, UIM, followed by National Anthem.
