The School of Agriculture, Uttaranchal University conducted an Experiential Learning Programme on Apiculture for B Sc (Hons) Agriculture, VIII semester students from 18 February to 25 April 2025. The programme was led by Dr Anil Kumar Sharma, Assistant Professor, who guided the students throughout the training. The training focused on various aspects of beekeeping including the life cycle of bees, care and maintenance of bee colonies, prevention of diseases, and the process of collecting and handling honey and other bee products. Students learned through practical involvement in activities such as preparing hives, observing bee colonies, and practicing honey extraction. These experiences helped them understand how beekeeping works in a simple and effective way.

The programme also introduced students to the economic side of agriculture, encouraging them to consider it as a small-scale business opportunity. It helped them see how beekeeping can support both income and crop productivity in agriculture. By combining basic knowledge with practical experience, the programme strengthened students’ confidence and interest in Apiculture. The support provided by the faculty and university administration ensured the smooth and successful completion of the training.
