Law College Dehradun organised the second edition of two-day National Conference InnoSustain 2.0 – Integrating Environment, Human Rights, Climate Change, and Technology: Innovative Pathways to Sustainable Futures on 24 & 25 October 2024. Renowned environmentalist Dr Anil Joshi was the chief guest of this occasion and Prof S P Sati of College of Forestry was the keynote speaker. Shri Jitendra Joshi, President, Uttaranchal University, Prof Dharam Buddhi, Vice Chancellor, Prof Rajesh Bahuguna, Pro-Vice Chancellor and Prof Poonam Rawat, Principal, LCD, along with the guests inaugurated the conference by lighting the lamp. Prof Rajesh Bahuguna, in his address stated that 457 teachers and researchers from more than 30 universities are participating in this national seminar. The organizers received 224 research papers out of which 122 research papers were selected for publication and presentation. 

 

Dr Anil Joshi said that the biggest challenge is to maintain a balance between the consumption of natural resources and cooperation in their conservation. He rendered the basic mantra of environmental conservation, that is to take only the required amount from natural resources to maintain balance between development and consumption. Prof S P Sati while explaining the structure and current outline of the Himalayas, expressed concern that energy that could cause major earthquake is being stored in the Himalayan regions and the reckless hydro projects in the mountains are the icings on the cake.  

 

Prof Dharam Buddhi stated that experts of law can play a central role in social change by practicing climate change and environmental protection. Prof Poonam Rawat delivered the formal vote of thanks. Those present in the occasion were Dr V P Joshi, Prof M P Singh, K V Pokhriyal, Dr Radheshyam Jha, Dr V Bhuvaneshwari, Amit Chaudhary, Dr Manish Bhardwaj, Dr Shikha Gairola, Dr Vaibhav Uniyal and Ashok Dobhal along with faculty members and students.
