The 10th International Conference on Recent Advances in Agriculture, Engineering, Applied & Life Sciences for Environmental Sustainability (RAAEALSES-2024) was successfully organised jointly by School of Agriculture (SOA), and Agro Environmental Development Society (AEDS), Uttar Pradesh from 23 to 25 October 2024. The conference was inaugurated by Shri Jitender Joshi, President. In his address, he emphasized the importance of innovative agricultural practices and quoted the successful example of apple orchards in the Mori district of Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand, which produces fruits in the off-season. Prof Dharam Buddhi, Vice Chancellor of the University emphasized the critical role of agriculture in the national economy, and motivated participants to contribute to India’s development vision of "Viksit Bharat @ 2047". He stressed that agriculture should remain a top priority for its significant impact on the nation's GDP. Prof Rajesh Bahuguna, Pro Vice-Chancellor emphasized the importance of sustainable agricultural practices, which is an essential for the food security and environmental protection. Prof Mahipal Singh, Director, School of Agriculture and Organizing Chairman, outlined on contemporary research that SOA is identifying the challenges and working for solutions.
The special guest Dr Sanjay Kumar Jha, Associate Professor, Central Department of Botany, Tribhuvan University, Nepal, highlighted on innovative research collaborations between India and Nepal. Dr Sarvesh Rastogi, also shared his views on biotechnological research being conducted at Uttaranchal University aiming at improvement of crop growth and yield. Dr Chhatrapal Singh, President of AEDS and Organizing Secretary, highlighted on different technical sessions on several topics including digital India, Nano fertilizer, renewable energy sources, advancement in cultivation of crops, fish farming, animal sciences, soil fertility, processing of food, application of Cold Plasma Technology, Raman’s Spectroscopy, GC-MS, PCR, RDT and other gene editing methods in agriculture. A total of 74 presentations were scheduled in these sessions. More than 400 participants, including researchers, academicians, and students from different institutions across the country have attended the conference.
The inauguration and other technical sessions were witnessed by prominent university officials, including Dr Kartikey, Joint Registrar, Shri KB Pokhriyal, Controller of Examinations; Dr Ramveer Tanwar, University Librarian; and Dr Amit Bhatt, Campus Director. The conference was concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr Rajendra Prasad, HoD, School of Agriculture.
