Uttaranchal College of Health Sciences celebrated World Lung Day with a focus on raising awareness about lung health. Students from UCHS and various other schools participated in the expert talk on 25 September 2024. The session commenced with a lamp lighting ritual, seeking blessings of Goddess Saraswati. A welcome address was given by Ms Harshita Sharma, student of BPT V semester, extending gratitude to all the dignitaries, guests & students for their presence.  

The speaker of the event was Dr Vaibhav Chachra, Senior Consultant, Pulmonology Department, MAX Super Speciality Hospital, Dehradun. He introduced students to the concept of lung health and highlighted the major contributors to lung diseases, such as alcohol misuse, nicotine addiction, and smoking. His talk underscored the urgent need for prevention and increased awareness to combat these harmful habits. In addition to discussing the impact of unhealthy behaviours, Dr Vaibhav Chachra provided practical advice on maintaining good lung health. He encouraged the audience to adopt healthier lifestyles, stressing the importance of regular medical check-ups, a balanced diet, and consistent exercise. His insights motivated attendees to take a proactive approach in caring for their overall health. Students actively participated and contributed to the Q&A session during the talk.  

Overall, the session proved to be highly informative, raising awareness about the importance of lung health and empowering participants to make healthier life choices. The event concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Ms Nidhi Sharma. The event was coordinated by faculty members under the guidance of Dr Kartikey, Joint Registrar and Director, UCHS.
