The Earth Day Debate Competition was held on April 22nd, 2024, at the Presentation Room, School of Agriculture of Uttaranchal University. The event was organized by Dr Atin Kumar, Assistant Professor and Coordinator of Agri Eco Club, SOA, and coordinated by Mr Pankaj Kumar, B Sc (Hons) Agriculture, Semester VI, aimed to foster critical thinking and constructive dialogue among undergraduate and postgraduate students on the pressing issue of environmental sustainability, particularly focusing on the impact of plastics on our planet.
The competition was open to all undergraduate and postgraduate students of the School of Agriculture, who were encouraged to engage in meaningful discourse, present their perspectives, and propose innovative solutions to address the global challenge of plastic pollution. The format of the debate included rounds for presenting arguments, rebuttals, and counterarguments, with judges evaluating the content, coherence, persuasiveness, and overall presentation of each participant or team. The Earth Day Debate Competition successfully provided a platform for intellectual exchange and contributed to fostering a culture of environmental responsibility within the academic community.
