An Educational Visit to “Sewage Treatment Plant, Dehradun”

The Department of Civil Engineering at Uttaranchal Institute of Technology organized a one-day educational excursion to the 150 KLD in-house Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) located at Uttaranchal University near Kasturba Girl’s Hostel on April 2, 2024. This visit was exclusively designed for B Tech and M Tech Civil Engineering students. The main aim of the industrial visit was to acquaint students with the various preliminary, primary, secondary, and advanced processes involved in sewage treatment, exposing them to new technologies and knowledge in the field of municipal wastewater treatment. 

During the educational visit, Ms Nishima Chaddha, an esteemed Assistant Professor within the Department of Civil Engineering, offered first-hand insights into the intricacies of sewage treatment processes, elucidating their environmental significance. With her expertise, she provided invaluable explanations and real-world examples, enhancing the students' understanding of how these processes contribute to environmental sustainability and public health protection. 

The educational visit was an enriching experience for all the students. Through practical exploration of sewage treatment processes and insightful guidance, students gained valuable knowledge about wastewater management and its environmental significance. This visit not only broadened their understanding of practical applications but also instilled a deeper appreciation for the role of modern technologies in sustainable environmental practices.
