The Women Cell, SLA, Uttaranchal University organized a vibrant and thought-provoking Poster Making Competition on the 30th of October 2023 in celebration of International Girl Child Day. The event aimed to raise awareness about the rights and empowerment of girl children, highlighting their importance in society and advocating for gender equality. 

The competition was open to all students, and It witnessed enthusiastic participation from the students from various disciplines. The competition encouraged participants to explore and express their creativity and concerns about the challenges faced by girl children. 

The event was marked by an air of creativity and innovation, as students employed a myriad of colors, ideas, and artistic styles to create their posters. The artworks were not only visually appealing but also carried powerful messages about the significance of gender equality and the need to support and empower girl children. The posters were displayed in a dedicated area, allowing the university community and visitors to appreciate the artistic talent and engage with the thought-provoking messages. 

The competition was judged by Mr. Shubham Joshi and Mr. Ashutosh Sharma, Assistant Professors, SLA, based on artistic merit, relevance to the theme, and the impact of the message.

The winners were : 

•First position: Harshita 

•Second position: Gauri 

•Third position: Ananya Chandra 

In conclusion, the Poster Making Competition on International Girl Child Day organized by the Women Cell at Uttaranchal University was a commendable initiative that promoted artistic expression, awareness, and dialogue on the importance of empowering girl children.  

The event was duly coordinated by Ms Ritu Baluni, Assistant Professor, SLA, Uttaranchal University.
