The School of Agriculture (SOA) recently concluded its fifteen-day "Orientation cum Induction Programme" for the newly enrolled UG and PG degree students in Agriculture. The program, which took place from August 16, 2023, to September 5, 2023, was a comprehensive introduction to the school and the academic journey ahead.

The orientation began with a campus tour on August 16, where students were acquainted with the various infrastructure facilities, including classrooms, laboratories, library, cafeteria, museum, playground, auditorium, and more. They also met their mentors and filled out mentor-mentee forms, and class mentors identified students requiring bridge courses.

On August 17, Professor (Dr.) M.P Singh, the Dean of SOA, interacted with students and introduced them to the experienced faculty members of SOA. Dr. Rajendra Prasad, Head of SOA, discussed the academic calendar and the curricular, co-curricular, and extracurricular activities planned for the students. He encouraged students to identify their life goals and offered guidance to achieve them.
The subsequent days included sessions on educational systems, program structures, and student clubs. Students were also motivated to join cultural clubs, Eco clubs, NSS, NCC, and more.

A visit to the Forest Research Institute and the TaqGene Training and Research Institute provided practical insights into agriculture-related activities, including mushroom production. The program also covered topics such as intellectual property rights, ICT in education, and career counseling.
The students were informed about the resources available to them, including the university library and the Career Resource Centre, which will aid in their in-campus job placements.

The orientation program concluded with an ice-breaking session on September 5, 2023, fostering healthy interactions among newly admitted students and their seniors. The program equipped students with the knowledge and resources they need for a successful academic journey in the field of agriculture.
