Law College Dehradun, faculty of Uttaranchal University organized UCOST Sponsored Two Day National Conference InnoSustain 2023: Pursuit for Sustainable Development Goals with great grandeur on 22 & 23 of September 2023, in the presence of Dr. Renu Singh IFS, Director & Vice Chancellor of Forest Research Institute, Dehradun, as Chief Guest, Dr. D.P.Uniyal Joint Director UCOST, Uttarakhand, and Prof. Amar Pal Singh, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, New Delhi besides renowned personalities of the field as Session Chairs and reviewers. The Conference was Scheduled for 2 days and distributed in 6 Technical sessions. The Conference intended to provide a forum for researchers, academicians, and students to showcase their innovative and intellectual property, explain and share their innovative practices, knowledge, and initiatives toward sustainable development goals through their paper presentations. 


Conference coordinator and Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Rajesh Bahuguna in his opening remarks stated that around 470 teachers and researchers from across the country participated in the conference while more than 200 researchers submitted their research papers for publication. Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Dharam Buddhi, quoted that to achieve the goals of Agenda-30 related to sustainable development, law students should focus on research related to intellectual property rights, patents, energy security and environment protection.  Vice President of the University, Prof. Satbir Sehgal, encouraged the intellectual role of universities to achieve the 17 goals of Agenda-2030. He also added that it is necessary to promote digital growth and startups at the university level.  


Keynote speaker Prof. Amar Pal Singh said that human civilization is standing on the cusp of change and pointed out the need to strengthen universal cooperation, brotherhood and democratic processes to face challenges like climate change, global warming, economic inequality, poverty, employment opportunities etc. Describing Artificial Intelligence and Innovation as extremely important for social and economic development in the context of sustainable development, he advised the people of the legal field to frame soft laws instead of rigid ones.  


Special guest Dr. D.P. Uniyal, while addressing the gathering, expressed that the partnership between universities and UCOST is very important to achieve the Sustainable Development Goal by 2030. 


Chief guest Dr. Renu Singh called upon the students at Uttaranchal University to take guidance from scientists of FRI and work through joint research programs with a holistic approach for the upliftment of the underprivileged people, women of the society and work for establishment of peace and justice in the world as legal systems play a crucial role in achieving the goals of sustainable development.  


In his presidential address, University Chancellor Jitendra Joshi said that Uttaranchal University is committed to promoting innovation and entrepreneurship as top priority. In the end, Principal of Law College Dehradun, Prof. Poonam Rawat presented the vote of thanks.  


Those present on the occasion were Dr. V. P. Panwar, Dr. Kshama Gupta, Dr. Neelam Rawat, Prof. Pradeep Suri, Prof. Vikas Jakhmola, Prof. Shravan Kumar, Prof. Poonam Rawat, Dr. Rajesh Singh, Dr. Anita Gehlot, Dr. Shikha Gairola, Dr. V. Bhuvneswari, Amit Kumar, Dr. Vaibhav Uniyal, Dr. Radhey Shyam Jha, Dr. Manish Bhardwaj, Abhishek Mishra, Mansi Sharma and hundreds of students. The Two-day National Conference culminated with a valedictory session on 23 September 2023 amidst the Presenters Session Chairs, faculty members and students at Law College Dehradun.
