Pro Bono Club in Collaboration with the Legal Aid Centre of Law College Dehradun conducted Legal Awareness Camp on 26 September 2023 in Rajkeeya Madhymik Vidyalaya, Sudhowala. The event was initiated in the presence of Prof (Dr) Rajesh Bahuguna Dean, Law College Dehradun, Prof (Dr) Poonam Rawat, Head Law College, Mr Abhiranjan Dixit, Faculty-in-charge; Pro Bono club & Chairperson of Legal Aid Centre.
The session was started by Mr Sudeep Chandra, Sr. Core Committee member, Student Head of the Pro Bono Club and President, Legal Aid Centre, who expressed his sincere appreciation to Mrs Seema Doval, the school principal. Following this, he provided an overview of the Pro Bono Club & its scheme and raised the students' awareness regarding the problem of child marriage, domestic violence, and punishments for the same. The second session was conducted by Kanan Joshi, who provided a comprehensive discourse on the topic of domestic violence and the maintenance of senior citizens. Additionally, she elaborated on the various schemes and helpline numbers issued by the government to enhance the well-being of senior citizens, women & children. Utkarsh Mishra, provided an elaborate explanation of the Indian Constitution, covering topics such as fundamental rights, DPSPs and the significance of the Constitution & law.
The session was interactive and the students who actively engaged in the discussion were rewarded with books to augment their legal knowledge and encourage students' participation in the session. To conclude the session Mr. Shubham Bisht, Pro Bono Associate, imparted certain slogans to emphasize the significance of legal knowledge to the students. The principal of the school praised the work done by the members and appreciated the arduous work invested by the members and the effective implementation of the work during the drive.
