School of Applied and Life Sciences, Uttaranchal University hosted a one-week faculty development session on "Advances in Analytical & Computational Techniques for Higher Education & Research" from June 5 to June 12, 2023. The FDP began with the lighting of a lamp by the chancellor, Shri Jitendra Joshi, and the Vice President of Uttaranchal University, Prof. (Dr.) SS Sehgal, Former Dean, IIT Roorkee Prof. Y. S. Negi, Prof. Raman Nautiyal, ICFRE, Dehradun, and Prof. Manoj Gehlot, SGRR University, Dehradun. In his welcome address, Prof. Ajay Singh presented the goals of the FDP and emphasised the importance of analytical and computational techniques in a variety of subfields of life science. In addition to this, he stated that such FDPs are fundamentally necessary in order to improve the technical skills of academic staff members and researchers. Prof. (Dr.) Dharam Buddhi, Vice-Chancellor, Uttaranchal University while addressing the gathering, touched on the importance of conducting research that spans multiple disciplines in the modern world. Not only are computational techniques for use in higher education and research essential for data analysis, but they are also essential for the conduct of trans-disciplinary scientific research and innovation. Prof. Y. S. Negi during his talk, emphasised the importance of incorporating computer usage into research in order to achieve results that would be beneficial and have excellent future possibilities.
