School of Liberal Arts in collaboration with Law College Dehradun Uttaranchal University under the aegis of Competition Commission of India (CCI) organized and Advocacy Event on 2 May, 2023. The event was addressed by Mr Rajiv Rautela, IAS, State Resource Person, Uttarakhand Competition Commission of India, New Delhi. The event started with an auspicious lamp lighting which was continued by a presenting a sapling to the guest Shri Rajiv Rautela by Vice-chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Dharam Buddhi followed by a welcome note by Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Bahuguna and motivational words by Vice-chancellor of the University. Dean SLA and Student Welfare, Dr. Shravan Kumar introduced the resource person to the participants. The event was coordinated by Dr. Reeta Rautela & Mr Ashutosh Sharma.
Ms. Aishwarya Rao, the Deputy Director of CCI also joined the event. Shri Mr. Rajiv Rautela made all the participants aware of The Competition Commission of India along with the principles of the Competition Act. An introduction to Competition Law was discussed in the session. He also highlighted the working efficiency of both the sectors i.e., private and government. He also talked about the history of Indian Economics and the growth and trends that India has witnessed till now since independence.
The conference provided a platform for students to learn about the competition and consumer protection laws in India, including the role of the CCI in enforcing these laws. The conference also facilitated the students to gain insights into potential policy measures and regulatory interventions that can enhance Competition and consumer welfare in the Indian Market. Principles of Procurement were also discussed during the session which was related to the quality of functioning and regulating the markets. The students will develop critical thinking skills and the event will help in building potential career paths and a deep and understanding of the issues that impact the economy business and consumers.
