Uttaranchal Institute of Management, Uttaranchal University, organized a PANEL DISCUSSION ON UNION BUDGET 2023-2024”, on 13 February, 2023.The Panel discussion was addressed by well renowned experts Mr Hari. H. Pathnaik, Chairman Uttarakhand Gramin Bank, Dr Hiranmoy Roy, Professor DIT University Dehradun, Prof. V.P Mathur, Consultant to NSDC (AMHSSC), CA Verendra Kalra, Managing Partner of Virendra Kalra & Associates.

The Event was moderated by Dr Tilottama Singh, HoD, UIM, Dr Rajeev Ranjan, Associate Professor, UIM, Cs Neha Rastogi, Assistant Professor UIM and the MoC was Ms Manleenjot Kaur, Assistant Professor, UIM under the guidance of Dr H.S. Grewal, Dean, UIM. The event was held in Uttaranchal University auditorium and the students from all the courses MBA, BBA, B.Com (H) enthusiastically attended the session.

The dignitaries were greeted with saplings and Mementos, by Prof (Dr) Dharam Buddhi, Vice Chancellor, Uttaranchal University and further the event was started with the Lamp Lighting and University Kulgeet.

CA Verendra Kalra spoke on the “Amrit Kaal” which refers to the next 25 years up to 2047. He spoke on the importance of developing the infrastructure, health, education, and family welfare in India. He also spoke about the fiscal deficit and the danger it poses to our economy. He concluded that the future would depend on the youth and their ability to make rational decisions.

Dr Hiranmoy Roy brought forward the international perspective on budget analysis. He discussed the impact of increased capital expenditure on the economy and how it will create demand for various factors of production in various industries.

Prof. V.P Mathur talked about the changes in the tax slabs and its impact on salaried class in different income brackets along with the comparison of new and old tax regimes.

Mr Hari.H. Pathnaik emphasized on the increase in capital expenditure and its multiplier effect on the economy. He advised the budding managers to analyse the budget on critical parameters such as the extent to which the budget was visionary & futuristic, its inclusiveness, contribution to strengthening social equilibrium and adequacy of sectoral allocations.

Dr. H.S. Grewal, Dean UIM appreciated the enthusiasm with which students participated in the discussion. He concluded that discussion forums like these provide a lot of exposure to the students about the direction of the Indian economy, its priority areas and its impact on various industries.

The vote of Thanks was proposed by Ms Manleenjot Kaur, Assistant professor, UIM. The event was successfully accomplished with the collaborative efforts of the Faculty members, UIM.
