The School of Agriculture (SOA) at Uttaranchal University organized an Experiential Learning cum Student Training Program in beekeeping on the university campus from 6th March 2023 to 29th April 2023. The primary objective of the program was to foster skill development and entrepreneurship in the field of beekeeping and honey extraction. Throughout the training program, students actively participated in a variety of activities, including the rearing of honeybees (Apis mellifera), extraction of high-quality honey, and the handling and seasonal management of honeybees. These hands-on experiences aimed to provide practical skills and insights to the students.
Dr. Mohasin Ikram, Assistant Professor, SOA and a subject expert, played a pivotal role in the program. He demonstrated proper techniques and engaged students in activities related to the utilization of available resources for setting up beehives, optimizing honey production, extracting wax, and enhancing value through the application of advanced technologies. Additionally, the students received guidance on planning for start-ups in beekeeping. This program may contribute to the personal and professional development of the participants will be helpful in them to explore the entrepreneurial opportunities in the dynamic field of beekeeping.
