School of Agriculture (SOA) organized an Experiential learning Programme on “Nursery Management” on 6th March to 29th April 2023. The Programme was aimed to facilitate the skill development of students in the nursery development of plants and their overall management. Dr. Siddharth S. Bhatt, Assistant Professor at SOA, conducted comprehensive sessions covering various aspects of nursery management through on-field demonstrations such as field preparation, seed treatment, seed sowing, vegetative reproduction, irrigation, cultural practices of nursery plants, and transplantation, respectively.
Throughout the program, student participants actively participated in a range of activities, including the layout preparation of the nursery, making raised and sunken nursery beds, exploring chemical and organic methods for seed treatment, learning various methods of seed sowing, understanding nutrient management and irrigation practices, and acquiring skills in thinning, rouging, and transplantation techniques. These practical experiences are expected to be highly beneficial for students in their future endeavours in practical crop production. The skills acquired during this program will contribute significantly to the professional growth of the participants in the field of agriculture.
