The Educational Visit to the Survey of India Museum at the Geodetic & Research Branch, Dehradun was conducted by Eureka Club Physics and 2 ∞ and Beyond” mathematics club under the aegis of the School of Applied and Life Sciences, Uttaranchal University for the students of B Sc (Hons) Physics, M Sc Physics and B Sc (Hons) Mathematics on 25 April 2023.

The official event was held at the Survey of India office compound Uttarakhand Geodetic and Research Branch, Dehradun. Arun Kumar in-charge of the National Survey Museum focused on Map of India and many Instruments that were used during the survey including theodolites, levels, sextants, distance measuring equipment and chronometers etc.

The trip was coordinated by Dr B S Rawat, Dr Hemlata Sharma and Dr Pankaj Singh Rawat and with all safety protocols and guidelines.

We also had the opportunity to see how maps were printed in the past. We were also introduced to modern mapping technology, including GIS software and digital maps. Overall, our visit to the Survey of India Museum was an enriching and informative experience. Our visit was an enriching experience that will stay with us for a long time.
