Globe Club of Uttaranchal Institute of Management, Uttaranchal University, organized a Poster Making Competition to celebrate ‘Himalayan Day’ on 12th September 2022. The following themes were showcased in this competition.
- Deforestation in Himalayas.
- Biodiversity in Himalayas.
- Sustainable Tourism
- Impact of Urbanization in Himalayas
- Culture and Traditions of Himalayas
The event took place under the guidance of Prof (Dr) Pradeep Suri, Dean, UIM. This day is celebrated to mark the importance of the Himalayas. The Himalayan hill cities face many challenges due to poor building planning and design, poor infrastructures like roads, water supply, sewage etc. and unprecedented felling of trees, increasing population, melting of glaciers and other such ecological disruptions are rapidly triggering disasters in this fragile ecosystem. Dr. Suri addressed the students about the importance of the Himalayas in influencing climate and the necessity to preserve them for the future.
Mr. Shrish Singh, Assistant Professor, UIM and Ms. Sonakshi Bhatia, Head-Academic & Cultural Affairs, UIM formed the esteemed jury of the competition.
The participants were judged on the basis of explanation, message given, neatness, colour combination and overall appearance.72 students participated in the Poster Making Competition.

It was a successful event by the joint contribution of Mr. Rohit Dhiman Head Globe Club, Dr.Babita Rawat, Ms. Sonakshi Bhatia, Ms.Prerna Goyal and Dr.Vijay Lahri.
