The NSS Wing of Uttaranchal University organized a seven-day NSS Special Camp at Kotda Santaur Village (Hariawala Kalan Village), Dehradun, from 06 March to 12 March 2026. The camp was inaugurated by the Chancellor of Uttaranchal University, Jitendra Joshi, in the presence of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dharam Buddhi, Pro Vice-Chancellor Rajesh Bahuguna, and Director of the School of Applied and Life Sciences (SALS) Prof. Ajay Singh. Around 100 NSS volunteers actively participated in the camp under the supervision of NSS Program Officers Dr. V. K. Srivastava and Dr. Manoj Kumar Sharma with school coordinators Dr. Gaurav Jain, Mr. Jageshwer Ray, Mr. Amit Saini, Dr. Khaleeq Ahmad, and Dr. Abhishek Singh.
On the first day, the camp began with the inauguration ceremony and orientation of volunteers regarding the objectives of the camp. On the second day, volunteers organized a Swachhata and cleaning drive in the village to promote cleanliness and environmental awareness. On the third day, an awareness rally was conducted to inform villagers about various government schemes and encourage social participation. On the fourth day, volunteers interacted with local villagers to understand their problems and spread awareness about health, sanitation, and hygiene. On the fifth day, NSS volunteers visited the local primary school and conducted teaching activities, where they also educated students about the importance of education and awareness about good touch and bad touch. On the sixth day, volunteers carried out a door-to-door campaign to promote digital literacy and spread awareness about cyber fraud and safe use of digital platforms. On the seventh day, the camp concluded with a valediction program where volunteers shared their experiences and learnings from the camp. The event was also attended by Gram Pradhan Mrs. Rajni Devi, Mr. Vikas Joshi, and other respected villagers of Kotda Santaur and Hariyawala Kalan, who appreciated the efforts of the volunteers.
The camp successfully promoted awareness about social issues, environmental concerns, and government schemes while strengthening the spirit of community service among students.
