On February 19, 2026, the E-Cell at the Uttaranchal Institute of Management (UIM), Uttaranchal University, organized a workshop titled "How to Start a Startup". The program was designed to equip students with essential knowledge, practical tools, and real-world insights to launch and grow successful ventures. The formal proceedings commenced with a warm welcome of the dignitaries, Prof. (Dr.) Pradeep Suri, Director, UIM, and Prof. (Dr.) Tilottama Singh, HoD, UIM, along with the Chief Guest, Mr. Prakhar Srivastava. Mr. Srivastava, an IIM Kashipur alumnus and Founder & CEO of Raysteeds Energy Pvt. Ltd., was presented a bouquet and memento as a token of appreciation by the Director of UIM. This was followed by the traditional lamp lighting ceremony, symbolising the pursuit of wisdom and enlightenment.
The event progressed with an inaugural address by the Director, UIM, who officially opened the workshop by highlighting the fundamental pillars of entrepreneurship. Prof. Suri emphasized critical steps for success, such as effective idea presentation, risk analysis, and identifying the right business opportunities. He also stressed the importance of creative thinking, exploring online business models, and deeply understanding customer needs in the modern market.
During the main session, Mr. Srivastava shared his personal entrepreneurial journey, from his early challenges to building his company in the energy sector. He asserted that the most critical "key" to starting a venture is the courage to take the first step, noting that a strong vision is far more vital than initial capital. He encouraged students to utilize their college years for innovation and to introspect on their personal strengths when deciding whether to start solo or form partnerships. He further clarified the distinctions between sales and marketing, highlighting the precision required in audience targeting for sustainable growth.
The session concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Dr. Anjali Dimri, Assistant Professor and Head of E-Cell, who expressed sincere gratitude to the speaker and organizers for a successful and inspiring session. UIM faculty members Ms. Shristi Chamoli, Mr. Vyomkesh Bhatt, Ms. Symle, Ms. Aditi Chauhan, and Ms. Yachika Chauhan also attended the event.
