Pre-Wedding Counselling Session Held Under “Ganga Dhara: Vicharon ka Aviral Pravah 2.0”

Devbhoomi Vikas Sansthan, Dehradun organized a special session under its intellectual series “Ganga Dhara: Vicharon ka Aviral Pravah 2.0” titled “Pre-Wedding Counselling: Dialogue and Understanding” on 15 November 2025 at Sanskriti Bhawan, near Vidhan Sabha, Dehradun. The program began with the lighting of the lamp and a tribute to Smt. Gaura Devi, setting a serene and thoughtful tone for the event. Former Chief Minister of Uttarakhand and Haridwar MP, Shri Trivendra Singh Rawat, delivered the keynote address, emphasizing the growing importance of pre-marital counselling in today’s changing social environment. He highlighted how counselling strengthens family values, enhances communication between partners, and helps young people make informed decisions about marriage with greater emotional understanding.

The event was graced by distinguished guests including Dr. Surekha Dangwal (Vice-Chancellor, Doon University), Prof. Diwan Singh Rawat (Vice-Chancellor, Kumaun University), Prof. Rajesh Bahuguna (Pro-Vice Chancellor, Uttaranchal University), and Hon’ble Justice (Retd.) U.C. Dhyani. The program was smoothly conducted under the coordination of Prof. H.C. Purohit, Dean, School of Management, Doon University, while Smt. Madhu Bhatt, Vice President, Sanskrit Parishad Uttarakhand, provided significant support by overseeing cleanliness and managing overall arrangements.

Students of DAV Public School presented a vibrant cultural dance, showcasing Uttarakhand’s tradition. Many students from Uttaranchal University actively participated in the event and engaged enthusiastically, asking thoughtful questions to the speakers and demonstrating their curiosity and willingness to understand the importance of communication, relationships, and emotional preparedness. Senior citizens of the state were also honoured for their contributions.

A panel discussion followed, featuring experts such as Prof. Rajesh Bhatt, Dr. Ashutosh Srivastava, Dr. Vikram Rawat, Dr. Malini Srivastava, Advocate Ravi Negi, Ms. Ramindri Madwal, and Ms. Aman Kapoor, who addressed audience questions and encouraged the youth to adopt pre-marital counseling for healthier relationships and stronger families. In the concluding session, Dr. Vijay Dhasmana, Hon’ble Chancellor of Swami Ram Himalayan University offered his remarks.
