As part of their academic curriculum, the fifth-semester students at Uttaranchal College of Nursing, Uttaranchal University, conducted an educational visit to Learning Tree Special School on November 6, 2025. The visit aimed to enhance the students’ understanding of special education needs, therapeutic interventions, and the role of multidisciplinary health services in the rehabilitation of children with special abilities.
The students were warmly welcomed by the school faculty and were oriented to the institution’s objectives, facilities, and specialized care programs. The school caters to children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, ADHD, and other developmental challenges. During the visit, the students observed classroom activities, physiotherapy sessions, speech therapy modules, occupational therapy units, and individualized learning plans designed for each child.
The faculty members of the school discussed the importance of early identification, patience, behavior modification techniques, assistive devices, and inclusive education. The students interacted with the children and participated in recreational activities, fostering positive communication and emotional connection.
The visit served as a valuable learning experience, providing students with practical exposure to the challenges and compassionate approaches required in caring for children with special needs. The faculty of Uttaranchal College of Nursing expressed heartfelt gratitude to the school administration for their cooperation and warm hospitality.
The educational visit helped students develop empathy, professional competence, and a deeper understanding of holistic childcare, reinforcing the importance of inclusive and community-based rehabilitation.
