Uttaranchal School of Computing Sciences (USCS), under the guidance and support of Head of Department, Dr Sameer Dev Sharma, successfully organized a two-day Knowledge Sharing Workshop on Quantum Computing on July 11 and 12, 2025, as part of its ongoing Faculty Development initiatives.
The event commenced with a welcome address by the respected Director, Prof (Dr) Sonal Sharma, who emphasized the importance of staying updated with emerging technologies and the role of continuous learning in academic excellence.
The workshop aimed to enhance faculty awareness of quantum computing fundamentals, promote its integration into curriculum and research, and provide hands-on experience with industry-relevant tools. It also sought to encourage interdisciplinary collaboration and spark innovation in the use of quantum technologies in higher education.
Insightful sessions were delivered by esteemed resource persons — Mr Ashish Bhatt, Ms Rashmi Kuksal, and Mr Manish Negi. They introduced participants to core quantum computing concepts, demonstrated real-world applications, and conducted practical sessions using Qiskit and the IBM Quantum Experience platform.
The sessions were highly interactive and received enthusiastic participation from faculty members, fostering a spirit of curiosity, collaboration, and innovation. The workshop concluded with a positive outlook toward integrating quantum computing into academic and research initiatives at USCS.
