The Uttaranchal School of Computing Sciences (USCS), Uttaranchal University, Dehradun, is organising a Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “Design Thinking” from 24 July 2025 to 29 July 2025. The objective of this FDP is to equip faculty with the mindset and tools of Design Thinking for innovative, learner-centric teaching.
The inauguration of the FDP was graced by the presence of Prof. Dharam Buddhi, Vice-Chancellor, Uttaranchal University; Prof. Rajesh Bahuguna, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Uttaranchal University; Prof. (Dr.) Sonal Sharma, Director, USCS; and Mr. Aditya Singh, Relationship Manager, ICT Academy. The expert speaker for the FDP was Md Aadil, Soft Skills Trainer at ICT Academy.
The inaugural session featured a welcome note by Prof. (Dr.) Sonal Sharma, who greeted the dignitaries and emphasised that Design Thinking is not just a process, but a mindset rooted in empathy, innovation, and user-centric problem-solving skills.
Prof. Rajesh Bahuguna, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, congratulated the USCS for organising this timely and meaningful FDP, highlighting it as a reflection of the institution’s commitment to academic excellence and continuous advancement.
Prof. Dharam Buddhi, Vice-Chancellor, encouraged all participants to immerse themselves fully, engage in collaborative learning, and carry forward the spirit of innovation in their academic practices.
The expert trainer, Md Aadil, delivered an engaging session on Design Thinking and conducted a case study activity where participants collaboratively proposed innovative solutions. He also emphasised the significance of soft skills and personality traits in the student-centric teaching and learning process.
Faculty members from various universities and institutes were excited to witness diverse perspectives and an enriching learning experience. Their active involvement added value to the collaborative discussions and activities.
This FDP is being coordinated by the organising committee: Ms. Manisha Saini, Ms. Manisha Khanduja, Mr. Yogesh Juyal, Ms. Divya Rawat, Ms. Khushboo Singhal, Mr. Aagman Kaparwan, and Mr. Manish Negi.
