The Uttaranchal Institute of Management organized a workshop on “Business Simulation” on 11 January 2025 for faculty members. It was conducted by the renowned Prof (Dr) Ashok N. Ullal, Emeritus & Former Dean, School of International Business, Reutlingen University, a distinguished expert in International Business Education. The session offered valuable insights into the use of experiential learning tools, such as business simulations to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application in teaching. 

Prof (Dr) Ullal, with an illustrious career spanning over four decades, has significantly contributed to the field of business education and has earned global recognition for his innovative teaching methods. As Professor Emeritus and former Dean of the School of International Business at Reutlingen University, Germany, he has developed pioneering approaches to integrate theory and practice effectively. 

The session commenced with a formal welcome by Prof (Dr) Pradeep Suri, Director, UIM, Uttaranchal University, who highlighted the importance of innovative simulation exercises for budding managers which is a key component for learning and emphasised on the use of simulation in rapidly evolving global business landscape. 

During the workshop, Prof (Dr) Ullal emphasized the relevance of business simulations in education, demonstrating how they create realistic, risk-free environments for participants to practice decision-making. He explained how simulations encompass various business domains, including strategy, finance, marketing, and international trade, enabling learners to develop critical thinking and interdisciplinary integration.  

The session inspired faculty members to incorporate simulation-based learning into their teaching practices, recognizing its potential to engage students and prepare them for real-world business challenges. Prof (Dr) Ullal’s expertise and dynamic delivery left a lasting impression, reinforcing the importance of adopting innovative educational methods to enhance student outcomes and bridge the gap between academia and industry.
