Agriculture students of the School of Agriculture, Uttaranchal University, conducted a series of field visits across various regions of Uttarakhand, including Vikasnagar, Rishikesh, Uttarkashi, and Doiwala, in November and December 2024. The primary aim was to engage with farmers and understand the major challenges they face in day-to-day agricultural practices.
Through meaningful discussions and on-field interactions, students examined key issues such as irregular rainfall, inadequate irrigation facilities, pest and disease outbreaks, rising input costs, limited access to quality seeds, and marketing constraints. Farmers across the visited regions shared valuable insights into their local practices and expressed the need for region-specific technological support.
These field interactions provided a platform for mutual learning and understanding, enabling students to appreciate practical farming challenges and the diversity of farming systems within the state.
