On December 4, 2024, the Centre for Indian Knowledge Systems at Uttaranchal University organized an enlightening and inspirational session titled Shrimad Bhagavad Gita: An Essence of Vedic Knowledge in the Swami Vivekananda Auditorium. The session featured Shri Sarvadaman Banerjee, a celebrated Indian film and television actor and founder of the Light House Yoga and Meditation Centre, as the Chief Guest and Resource Person. Joining him were Ms. Alankrita Banerjee from NGO Pankh, Rishikesh, as a special guest, along with Shri Jitender Joshi (President, Uttaranchal University), Ms. Ankita Joshi (Vice President), Prof. Dharam Buddhi (Vice Chancellor), Prof. Rajesh Bahuguna (Pro Vice Chancellor), Er. Rajesh Deorari (Director, IQAC), and Dr. Kartikey Gaur (Deputy DSW).

The event aimed to bridge the timeless wisdom of the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita with modern perspectives, promoting a deeper understanding of Indian culture, languages, and scriptures. It highlighted the transformative power of meditation and the Gita’s teachings in fostering inner peace, mental resilience, and a positive approach to life’s challenges.

The program was skillfully hosted by Mr. Abhinav Gaur and unfolded in two engaging segments:

Segment 1: Exploring the Teachings of the Gita

In the first segment, students Ms. Manveen and Mr. Ankit delivered an insightful narration of the 18 chapters of the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita, emphasizing its relevance in students’ lives. They eloquently explained how the teachings of the sacred text serve as a guide for overcoming life's challenges and achieving success through Nishkaam Karma- selfless action without attachment to outcomes. Their presentation resonated deeply with the audience, showcasing the importance of inner discipline and moral courage.

Segment 2: Meditation and Practical Wisdom

The second segment featured Shri Sarvadaman Banerjee, who captivated the audience with his profound insights on “Surrendering the Mind.” He shared simple yet effective meditation techniques to alleviate stress and anxiety, offering practical tools to achieve mental clarity and emotional stability. Shri Banerjee inspired students to prioritize responsibilities over rights, sacrifice over selfish desires, and self-empowerment through mental strength. He also emphasized the importance of empowering young women by fostering resilience and confidence.
