Law College Dehradun (LCD), Uttaranchal University, organized a Training Programme on ‘Effective Searching of Supreme Court Cases (SCC Online and Hein Online) Databases’ on 29 November 2024. The event aimed to familiarize students with advanced tools and techniques for legal research using these premier databases.
Mr Rajesh Raina and Mr Ajay Pratap Singh from SCC Online led the session with an engaging demonstration of how to access and navigate the SCC Online and Hein Online databases effectively. The session also explored the use of the ‘Knimbus’ remote access facility, enabling seamless access to these e-resources anytime, anywhere.
Key features covered during the training included ‘Setting Alerts,’ creating ‘Search Folders,’ searching Case Law by Section, browsing Law Reports and Judgments, and staying updated with the latest developments in legal education. These techniques were designed to enhance the research capabilities of the participants and streamline their legal studies.
The program began with a welcome address by Mr Muktendra Rawat, Librarian, Law College Dehradun. In his address, Prof (Dr) Rajesh Bahuguna emphasized the importance of leveraging digital resources to enhance academic learning and research. He encouraged students to make the most of the subscribed e-resources and adopt a research-oriented approach in their legal studies.
The session, coordinated by Mr Muktendra Rawat, was attended by over 325 students, who found the training highly informative and beneficial. The workshop served as an essential step toward equipping students with practical knowledge for conducting effective legal research and utilizing modern tools in their academic and professional pursuits.
