The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Uttaranchal University grandly celebrated National Unity Day on 31 October 2024, at 11:30 AM to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The primary objective of the event was to promote the spirit of unity, dedication, and service among students and society, honouring the contributions and ideology of Sardar Patel. The event was inaugurated by the Shri Jitender Joshi. Chancellor accompanied by Prof (Dr) Dharam Buddhi, Vice- Chancellor, Prof (Dr) Rajesh Bahuguna, Pro Vice- Chancellor and the University's NSS Program Officers, Prof V K Srivastava, Dr Manoj Kumar Sharma, and Dr Navneet Kumar Shukla. In his inaugural speech, Shri Joshi emphasized the importance of national unity and integrity, inspiring students to bring positive change to society.  

The event's Chief Guest, Mr Shiv Prasad Shukla, a former NSS volunteer and recipient of the Swami Vivekananda Youth Award from the Uttar Pradesh government, shared his experiences and motivated the youth to foster unity and awareness in society. He highlighted the contributions of the Iron Man of India, Sardar Patel, and urged young people to contribute to nation-building. Prof V K Srivastava, the NSS Program Officer of the University, praised the volunteers for their spirit of service. He emphasized that NSS volunteers are always ready to serve society and humanity, and such events play a vital role in strengthening the country's unity and integrity. He appreciated the NSS’s efforts in this direction. Many NSS volunteers, students from various faculties, and faculty members attended the event. The participating students engaged in discussions and activities inspired by the thoughts and ideals of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, symbolizing national unity. The program concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr Manoj Kumar Sharma, who expressed gratitude to all the guests, speakers, volunteers, students, and staff for their support and active participation. This event significantly strengthened the spirit of unity, dedication, and social service among the university's students and faculty.
