UIPS observed the Zero Emission Day

Uttaranchal Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences celebrated Zero Emission Day with a Debate competition on the topic “Give our planet one day off a year” for the university students scheduled on 20 September 2024. The inauguration of the event was graced by Prof (Dr) Vikash Jakhmola, Director UIPS, along with the faculty members. The aim of the activity was to inform students about the environmental consequences of carbon emissions, including climate change, air pollution, and their impact on ecosystems and human health. The event's objective was to promote awareness and action towards reducing carbon emissions, highlighting the importance of sustainable living and environmental conservation. The competition helped the students to develop excellent oral communication skills and to develop critical thinking skill. 

The Director, UIPS motivated all the participants to exchange their views through the debate competition. He also talked about the ways to reduce carbon footprints. Eminent Judges for this competition were Dr Pallavi Chand, Ms Shristi Morris and Ms Taru Saklani, Assistant Professors, UIPS.  

A total of 20 students actively participated in the competition with full enthusiasm and interest. The event concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by Dr Nidhi Gairola, HoD, UIPS. She applauded the students for their creative thoughts and congratulated the winners. The event was organized and coordinated by the Pharmaceutical Chemistry club of UIPS.
