Uttaranchal School of Technology, Uttaranchal University, Dehradun, organized a One Week Faculty Development Programme on "Mathematics in India: From Vedic Period to Modern Times" from 07 June to 13 June 2024.
Shri Jitender Joshi Ji, President, Ms Ankita Joshi, Vice-President, Uttaranchal University, Prof (Dr) Dharam Budhhi, Vice-Chancellor, Uttaranchal University, Prof (Dr) Rajesh Bahuguna, Pro Vice- Chancellor, Uttaranchal University, Prof (Dr) Sumit Chaudhary, Director UIT were present during the inaugural session.
The inaugural ceremony started with lamp lighting and a welcome note by Prof (Dr) Sumit Chaudhary, Director, UIT. In his opening address, he highlighted the importance of Mathematics in engineering sciences and the role it has played since the Vedic era in solving complex engineering problems.
Prof (Dr) Rajesh Bahuguna, Pro Vice- Chancellor, Uttaranchal University appreciated the organizers for selecting the theme of the faculty development program as it relates to the Indian knowledge system and its importance in adopting such techniques.
The objective of the FDP was to gain a deep understanding of ancient Indian Mathematical Texts and to develop interdisciplinary research skills to bridge ancient practices with modern mathematics. All the participants participated zestfully in the FDP as they received exposure from experts. The sessions in this FDP were diversified across the Modern implementation of Vedic Maths and the art of Vedic sutras in solving complex engineering problems. The sessions of FDP were knowledgeful and provided deep insights to the faculty members.
All the dignitaries appreciated and congratulated the UIT fraternity for organizing such an FDP, which indirectly benefits society. On the last day of the faculty development program, participant’s queries were addressed by the expert, and they shared their valuable feedback. The participants asked to organize such faculty development programs in the future. Mr Gaurav Thakur, Assistant Professor, CE-UIT expressed his vote of thanks to the dignitaries and the participants of the Faculty Development Programme.
