UIPS celebrated "Zero Emission Day" with a debate competition on the topic 'Tax on Industries According to Carbon Emissions' for the university students on 21 September 2023. The inauguration of the event was graced by the Prof. (Dr.) Vikash Jakhmola, Dean, UIPS along with the faculty members. The aim of the activity was to inform students about the environmental consequences of carbon emissions, including climate change, air pollution, and their impact on ecosystems and human health. The event's objective was to promote awareness and action towards reducing carbon emissions, highlighting the importance of sustainable living and environmental conservation. The competition helps the students to develop excellent oral communication skills and to develop critical thinking skills.
Dr. Vikash Jakhmola, Dean, UIPS motivated all the participants to exchange their views, thoughts through the debate competition. He also talked about the ways to reduce carbon footprints. Eminent Judges for this competition were Dr. Supriyo Saha, and Mrs. Pallavi Ghildiyal.
Total 35 plus students actively participated in the competition with full enthusiasm and interest. The event ended with the vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Tarun Parashar, HoD, UIPS. He applauded the views of the students for the activity and congratulated the winners. The event was organized by the Pharmaceutical Chemistry club of UIPS which was coordinated by Mr. Ujjawal Kukreti, B. Pharm 4th Year & Faculty Coordinator Ms. Anandi Kapri and Ms. Jaya Rautela.
