Uttaranchal Institute of Management, Uttaranchal University has organised an international webinar on the topic “Interest Rate Risk Management in Banking Sector - A Silicon Valley Bank Case” on 21 September 2023 for the students of BBA Finance. This webinar addresses a critical aspect of banking industry in the form of Silicon Valley Bank case study.
The eminent personality Dr Nikola Stakić (PhD and CFA) was the Guest Speaker of the Webinar, who has over 15 years of teaching and research experience in Finance and Banking Industry. The guest clearly defined the importance of Interest rate risk management and its role in maintaining financial stability and ensuring the resilience for banking institutions. The speaker gave insights of banking industry, the interest rate mismanagement by the Silicon Valley bank and the reaction by US market after its collapse. The guest also made students aware that the banking industry, serving to the customer, should provide confidence and security about their investing money rather than the loss of money. The level of engagement and the quality of insights shared during this webinar demonstrated the global appetite for meaningful conversations that drive positive change.
