In a resounding celebration of World Ozone Day, the Globe Club, UIM took the initiative to both raise awareness about sustainable development and educate the student body on the vital subject of ozone layer protection. On 19 September 2023 Globe Club, UIM hosted an engaging event titled "Documentary Screening with Quiz Competition" at the UIM seminar hall.
The event commenced with a warm welcome speech, graciously delivered by the Globe Club members Ms Sakshi Shinghal and Mr Mantresh, student coordinators, setting the tone for an enlightening and interactive day. The event was thoughtfully divided into two phases, ensuring that participants and attendees received a comprehensive education on the subject.
Documentary Screening: "Ozone Hole – The Mysterious Story"
The first phase of the event featured the screening of a captivating documentary entitled "Ozone Hole – The Mysterious Story." This documentary offered deep insights into the intricate workings of the ozone layer, shedding light on its critical importance for our planet's health. Following the screening, a dynamic Q&A session allowed students to engage with the material, promoting open dialogue and knowledge sharing.
The Much-Anticipated Live Quiz Session
The highlight of the day was the eagerly awaited quiz session, which was thoughtfully designed to test students' knowledge not only about the documentary but also on global affairs related to ozone layer protection. Participants showcased their expertise and commitment to the cause, making the competition a truly enriching experience.
At the conclusion of the quiz competition, the deserving winners were honoured for their outstanding performance. The results of the quiz were as follows:
1st Place: Ms. Rituranjan (BBA 1st Year)
2nd Place: Ms. Harmantjot Kaur (BBA 1st Year)
3rd Place: Mr. Himal (BBA 1st Year)
These bright students were rewarded for their remarkable achievements. Dr Megha Aggarwal, Associate Professor at UIM, and Mr Manish Ghalwan, Assistant Professor and Head of the Globe Club, UIM presented them with certificates of appreciation.
Lastly, the UIM Globe Club would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Prof (Dr) Pradeep Suri, Dean of UIM, and Dr Tillottama Singh, HoD of UIM, for their unwavering support and encouragement in organizing and facilitating this event. Their guidance and dedication to promoting sustainable development and educational initiatives have been instrumental in the success of the Globe Club's endeavours.
