The School of Agriculture (SOA) organized a workshop on 5th April 2023 for the undergraduate students of Agriculture. The main objective of this workshop was to enhance the students' skills in propagation techniques for commercial horticultural plants. Dr. Rajat Singh, a Horticulture expert and the training instructor, played a key role in guiding the participants through various aspects of this specialized field. He demonstrated valuable insights into the selection and processing of suitable substrates for the propagation of horticultural plants. Additionally, he explained the students about techniques related to nursery development, nutrient management, and cultural practices for nurturing plants in a nursery setting.
Throughout the workshop, students actively participated in hands-on activities, including sorting quality seeds, conducting tests for seed vigor, learning transplantation techniques, and exploring macro propagation methods such as stem cutting, budding, grafting, and air layering. The workshop also covered essential aspects of pest management for nursery plants. The event was also anticipated for entrepreneurship development of the students which may open doors for their future entrepreneurship opportunities.
