The students of Applied and Life Sciences visited the Wildlife Institute of India on 24.04.2023. Students were flagged off by Dean Sciences Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Singh and Dr. Nishesh Sharma, Program coordinators of Biotechnology. Students of MSc Environmental Science II semester, MSc Biotechnology II semester and BSc Biotechnology 4 semester accompanied by Prof. (Dr.) Bharti Ramola, Program Coordinator, Chemistry, and Dr. Himani Badoni, Assistant Professor, Biotechnology we were warmly greeted by officials of WII. After a presentation regarding the role of WII for the protection and conservation of wildlife, the students were shown the forensic lab where they interacted with the lab official and learned about the identification of animals by their teeth, horns, and skin. Toward the end of visit, the students were taken for a nature trail, where WII has created an artificial pond. Overall the students had a good time and they were able to know the role of the Wildlife Institute of India in preventing poaching and smuggling of wildlife-related items apart from the conservation of natural resources.
