Environmental Club of Uttaranchal University, Eco-
cops: “The home of Eco Warriors” celebrates world water day with a series of
events focused on raising awareness about the importance of water conservation
on 28 March 2023.
The event began with a lamp lighting ceremony by
the chief guest Prof (Dr) Abhishek Joshi, Executive Director, Student Affairs
and IT Services, Guest of Honour, Prof (Dr) Dharam Buddhi, Vice- Chancellor,
President, Eco – Club, Prof (Dr) Ajay Singh, Vice- President, Eco- club, Prof
(Dr) Bharti Ramola, Coordinator, Eco Club, Dr Madhu Kirola and President
student body, Mr Animesh Raturi.
In his
welcome speech, Prof (Dr) Ajay Singh highlighted the challenges facing the
global community when it comes to water scarcity, pollution, and climate
change. In his address Vice Chancellor Prof (Dr.) Dharam Buddhi praised the
efforts of Eco Cops for contributing to the UN theme of “Accelerating Change”
by organising a Quiz competition and a Nukkad Natak, to create awareness about
water which is becoming scarce day by day. The quiz competition saw around 46
teams comprising three members each from various colleges of Uttaranchal
University. A series of rounds of questions related to water management and
sustainability were asked of the participants. Nukkad was much appreciated by
the distinguished guests which depicted the present scenario of water and the
future crisis that will be faced by us if proper utilisation and sustainability
of water is not considered. A vote of thanks was proposed by Dr Madhu Kirola,
Coordinator, Eco-Club.
The entire event was coordinated by Prof (Dr)
Bharti Ramola along with Dr Madhu Kirola, Dr Shivam Pandey and student
coordinators namely Animesh Raturi, Vansh Taneja, Isha Ali, Ritesh Jha, Ashish Chauhan,
Om Garg, Aastha. Bahuguna, Arun Negi, Himani Gusain.
