Women Cell, School of Agriculture, Uttaranchal University Dehradun, organized an ‘Workshop’ on ‘Discrimination Against Women’for the female students of SOA, on 8th December 2022 in Agriculture Block for the objective of, To observe the 25th November as international Day for the elimination of violence against women and To observe Discrimination against Women Pakhwada from 25th November to 10th December, 2022, as given the guideline by UGC.
Dr. Neha Saini, Assistant Professor, SOA, Uttaranchal University, Described the Sexual Harassment at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 and about rights given to women by the Act, 2013. She discussed how to protect women and safeguard her rights at workplace.The Internal Complaint Committee (ICC) and Local Complaint Committee (LCC) and their role also discussed with students. During the workshop students was aware about category of complaint are entertained by the National Commission for Women (NCW), for example bigamy, cyber-crime, sexual harassment, dowry etc. and also type of complaint not entertained by NCW. During the workshop Students were informed about the procedure to file the complaint and authority those entertain the complaint. Online and offline procedure also discussed. Students acquainted how to track the complaint after filing. Some queries of students during the workshop like website and phone no. of the body also shared.
Workshop was very fruit full for the female students. All the female students of School of Agriculture (SOA) attended the workshop and got benefited. Dr. Neha Saini (Incharge – Women Cell, SOA), Ms. Mansi Nautiyal and Dr. Rachna Juyal (Member ofWomen Cell, SOA) was present during the workshop and provides their support to organize the workshop properly.
