In an effort to support the academic staff members' professional development and familiarise them with the highly scalable, secure, and fault-tolerant applications available on the AWS Cloud, a one-week-long Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on AWS was organized by the Uttaranchal School of Computing Sciences (USCS), faculty of Uttaranchal University. The FDP seeks to improve faculty members' capacities for both teaching and research and is being attended by large number of significant faculty members from all over the country with full zeal and enthusiasm.
On July 18, 2022, at 10:00 AM, the inaugural session was conducted at the Seminar Hall of the Uttaranchal Institute of Management. Dr. Pradeep Suri, Dean of UIM, Dr. Sonal Sharma, Dean of USCS, Mr. Manish Badoni, Dean of USHHM, Mr. Abhinandan Pandey, Manager of ICT Academy, and Mr. Sidiq Sherief, Senior Technical Trainer of ICT Academy, presided over the ceremony. The MOC was Mr. Abhishek Pathak. The ceremonial lamp was lit to start the programme, which was followed by a recitalof UniversityKulgeet.In his welcoming speech, Dr. Pradeep Suri, Dean of UIM, welcomed the ICT Academy's expert members and expressed the hope that attendees would grasp the environment, difficulties, and principles of cloud computing
Dr. Sonal Sharma, Dean USCS welcome the FDP trainer Mr Sidiq Sherief and made the audience familiarized with the core concepts of Cloud Computing. She further briefed various applications areas and types of various services of Cloud Computing. She said that hopefully at the end of the FDP, the faculty members would be able to launch services on the AWS cloud environment successfully.
In the technical session of Day 1, Mr. Sidiq Sherief, Senior Technical Trainer of ICT Academy, summarized the working definition of AWS, differentiated between on-premises, hybrid-cloud, and all-in-cloud models, and described the basic global infrastructure of the AWS Cloud.
The FDP has been organized under the guidance of the Dean of USCS Dr. Sonal Sharma, with Dr. Rajiv Kumar, Mr. Ishteyaaq Ahmad, Dr. Monisha Awasthi, Mr. Sameer Dev Sharma and Mr. Abhishek Kumar Pathak as organizing members. The event was great success with support of Mr. Anand Rawat.
