School of Agriculture Celebrates Harela with Tree Plantation Drive

School of Agriculture, Uttaranchal University, celebrated Harela, the folk festival of Uttarakhand, by organizing a tree plantation drive on 16th July 2026 in the university campus under the national campaign "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam". The Chief GuestProf. (Dr.) Rajesh Bahuguna planted “ tree sampling” in the Nav Grah Vatika of SOA and extended his greetings to all students, faculty members, and staff for joining hands to increase the greeneries in the campus. He said that this festival reflects the deep connection between nature and the cultural heritage of Uttarakhand. He encouraged all participants for caring trees after plantation and emphasized that environmental conservation should be a part of our daily life. He also suggested for preserving natural resources for future generations.


Prof. (Dr.) Rajendra Prasad, Director, School of Agriculture expressed his greetings to all participants, he motivated agriculture students for sustainable practices and conservation of environmental resources during their practical and field activities. The programme ended with tree plantation by guests and participants of faculty development programme which also inaugurated on this day, marking the celebration of Harela with a message of protecting nature and increasing green cover.
