The FinTech Club at the Uttaranchal Institute of Management (UIM), Uttaranchal University, organized an industry-oriented seminar titled "IFRS & Future Career Opportunities" on February 20, 2026. The session was conducted in the esteemed presence of Prof. (Dr.) Pradeep Suri, Director-UIM, and Prof. (Dr.) Tilottama Singh, HoD-UIM, and FinTech Club faculty members. The seminar, conducted by Mr. Sahil Verma, a Foreign Accounting Career and Academic Advisor at The Indian Muneem Academy (TIMA), aimed to familiarize students with international accounting practices, corporate work culture, and the competencies required for white-collar employment in multinational corporations.
The session was conducted in an interactive, discussion-oriented mode, beginning with an exploration of how students can secure roles in MNCs by acquiring specific, high-demand skills. A major emphasis of the seminar was placed on the necessity of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). Mr. Verma highlighted that organizations engaged in global trade must comply with these standards to ensure transparency, comparability, and credibility in financial reporting. He further elaborated on the management of cross-border transactions and foreign currency dealings, noting that a deep knowledge of IFRS and global accounting software, such as Xero and Zoho, significantly enhances a candidate's employability in international settings.
Beyond technical proficiency, the discussion addressed the essential soft skills required for the corporate sector, including communication, professional ethics, adaptability, and teamwork. The speaker also compared domestic and international work environments, emphasizing the importance of professional discipline, time management, and continuous skill upgradation to maintain a healthy work-life balance.
The seminar concluded with an engaging question-and-answer session, where students actively clarified their queries regarding career prospects and professional training pathways. Following the interactive session, a formal Vote of Thanks was proposed, expressing sincere gratitude to Mr. Sahil Verma for his valuable insights that contributed meaningfully to the professional development of the students.
