International Webinar on From Data to Dashboard: Mastering Analytics with Power BI

Uttaranchal Institute of Management, Uttaranchal University organised an international webinar on the topic “From Data to Dashboard: Mastering Analytics with Power BI” on 8 November 2024 for the students of MBA. The webinar addressed a crucial aspect of data analytics and business intelligence using Power BI. The eminent speakers for this session were Dr Fasee Ullah, Associate Professor in the Department of Computer & Information Sciences (CIS) at Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, Malaysia and Dr Shahsi Bhusan, Senior lecturer at the same university. With extensive experience in data analytics, Dr Fasee Ullah guided the participants through a comprehensive and practical understanding of Power BI. 

Dr Ullah began the session by demonstrating the step-by-step process of installing Power BI on a system, making it accessible for participants to follow along and set up their own analytics environment. A significant part of the session focused on building relationships between different data tables, a critical feature in Power BI that enables users to create connected datasets for deeper analysis. Dr. Ullah meticulously explained how to establish these relationships, thereby enabling the participants to understand the underlying data models. Moving forward, the speaker demonstrated how to create interactive dashboards using Power BI’s powerful visualization tools. Finally, Dr Fasee Ullah delved into the process of extracting meaningful insights from raw data, showing participants how to leverage Power BI's analytical capabilities to generate reports that can drive business decisions. 

Prof (Dr) Pradeep Suri, Director, Uttaranchal Institute of Management, Uttaranchal University, commenced the webinar with a warm welcome speech. He shared his thoughts on the growing significance of data analytics in today’s business landscape. The session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr Tilottama Singh, HoD, UIM.
