Human Intelligence is Always Superior to Artificial Intelligence: Prof. Sahasrabudhe

Uttaranchal University hosted the "All India Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC)-2024" workshop today. Prof. Anil Dattatraya Sahasrabudhe, Chairman of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), served as the Chief Guest. Special Guests included State Higher Education Secretary, Sr. IAS, Mr. Shailesh Bagauli, Director IIT Delhi Prof. Rangan Banerjee, CEO of TeamLease EdTech Mr. Shantanu Rooj, and Head and Vice Chairman- IQAC of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham Prof. Prashant R. Nair. The workshop was held in a hybrid format, attracting participants involved in the assessment and accreditation process of educational institutions, including faculty members and IQAC members from universities and colleges nationwide.

Sh. Jitender Joshi, President of the University, welcomed the educationists and experts with a bouquet and a shawl, emphasizing the pivotal role of the university's IQAC in maintaining quality standards. He credited the experienced and efficient IQAC for the institution’s significant success.

In his address, Prof. Sahasrabudhe praised the workshop as an exemplary initiative by Uttaranchal University. Highlighting the key features of the new education policy, he called the establishment of the Academic Bank of Credits a revolutionary step. Discussing Artificial Intelligence, he acknowledged its contributions to easing human life but maintained that human intelligence remains superior to artificial intelligence. He noted that national assessment and accreditation have improved the educational standards of universities and colleges and increased transparency in their operations. He emphasized the importance of multilingualism and multidisciplinary education, addressing the challenge of language barriers with the 'Anuvadini' app. Prof. Sahasrabudhe expressed concern that only 10 percent of colleges and 33 percent of universities in the country have undergone NAAC evaluation and accreditation. He announced that future evaluations and accreditations would follow a binary system: Institutions will either be accredited or not.

Mr. Shailesh Bagauli highlighted the importance of NAAC for educational improvement, noting its role in transforming government universities and boosting research and start-ups, despite on-going challenges in multidisciplinary education. Prof. Rangan Banerjee accentuated that university curricula should align with local, national, and international needs, as well as industry requirements.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dharam Buddhi discussed the university's achievements and future plans, stating that the workshop aimed to integrate best practices from various universities for the collective benefit.

Mr. Shantanu Rooj and Prof. Prashant R. Nair also addressed the program, while IQAC Director Er. Rajesh Deorari presented a vote of thanks and outlined the IQAC's framework.

The event was attended by University’s Vice President Ankita Joshi, Executive Director Dr. Abhishek Joshi, Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Rajesh Bahuguna, Er. Sudhir Jugran, Er. Rishidev Nautiyal, Dr. Anubhuti Dhyani, Mr. Shubham Joshi, Ms. Divya Rawat, along with Deans, Directors, Principals, faculty members and other Officials of the University.
