The vibrant campus of Uttaranchal University witnessed a thrilling display of sportsmanship as it hosted a successful Intra-University Sports Fest from 23rd to 24th February 2024. The event drew enthusiastic participation from students across various departments and institutes.
Esteemed dignitaries such as Shri Jitendra Joshi, Chancellor, Uttaranchal University, Prof (Dr) Dharam Buddhi, Vice Chancellor, Uttaranchal University, and Prof (Dr) Rajesh Bahuguna, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Uttaranchal University, graced and inaugurated the event. With great enthusiasm, they also presided over the closing ceremony, commending the participants for their dedication and sportsmanship. Professor (Dr) S D Pandey, Dean UIT, and Dr Sumit Chaudhary, HoD-CSE, were also present, offering their encouragement to the participants.
The highlight of the fest was the intense football tournament, where teams showcased exceptional talent and competitive spirit. The UIT (Uttaranchal Institute of Technology) team emerged victorious, clinching the championship title in a display of remarkable skill and teamwork. Their journey to victory was cheered on by a supportive audience throughout the tournament. In addition to their football triumph, UIT also showcased their prowess in basketball, securing the runner-up position in a closely contested tournament. Despite narrowly missing out on the top spot, UIT's basketball team demonstrated exemplary sportsmanship and determination, earning accolades for their performance.
Despite putting up a valiant effort, UIT fell short in the semi-finals stage of the volleyball tournament. However, their spirited performance throughout the tournament was a testament to their dedication and athletic abilities.
The success of the event can be attributed to the meticulous planning and execution by the organizing team led by Mr. Gaurav Kumar, faculty coordinator at UIT.
As the curtains ended on this exhilarating event, Uttaranchal University reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing academic excellence and holistic development among its students through initiatives like the Intra-University Sports Fest.
