Uttaranchal Institute of Management, Uttaranchal University, successfully organized the formal orientation program for MBA, BBA, and B.Com (H) students - "Deekshaarambh 2023" on August 18, 2023. Dr. Tilottama Singh, HoD of UIM, warmly welcomed the new students, dignitaries, faculty, and staff. The event began with the lighting of the lamp and the singing of the University kulgeet.
The honorable Chancellor, Shri Jitender Joshi Ji, extended his blessings and enduring support to the new students.
The orientation program continued with a motivational address by Prof. (Dr.) Pradeep Suri, Dean-UIM & Dean Academics. In his address, he emphasized that students need to be well-equipped with knowledge and its application to achieve their dreams. He extended his best wishes to the new students for their bright futures.
Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Bahuguna, Pro Vice-Chancellor of Uttaranchal University, in his speech, cautioned students against engaging in ragging, politics, and drug-related activities to ensure a smooth tenure at the University.
Furthermore, Prof. (Dr.) Dharam Buddhi, Vice-Chancellor of Uttaranchal University, in his speech, motivated students to focus on building not only a successful career but also on becoming humble human beings.
Dr. Satbir Sehgal, Vice President of Uttaranchal University, emphasized that students should be focused on seizing opportunities and be prepared to manage challenges.
Dr. Anupama D. Raina, Director of Corporate Relations at IBS Gurgaon, was the guest speaker of the day and conducted a session on career planning for success. Her session focused on building a holistic persona, which is the demand of today's organizations.
The afternoon session commenced with cultural performances by management students, showcasing the diverse colors of India. Dr. Tilottama Singh, HoD of UIM, introduced the faculty members and Mr. Anup Negi, Deputy Registrar, to the students. Towards the end of the program, various faculty members and heads of committees, including Mr. Iqbal Singh Sawhney (Head, Training and Placements), Dr. Megha Aggarwal (Associate Professor, Head Anti-Ragging Committee), Ms. Sonakshi Bhatia (Assistant Professor, Head-Cultural and Academics Affairs), Mr. Hardev Singh (Assistant Professor, Head-Sports Committee), Dr. Anil Singh Chauhan (Associate Professor, Head Discipline Committee), and Dr. Rekha Verma (Associate Professor, Head Sexual Harassment Committee), addressed the students about the essence and functions of their respective committees. Finally, a vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Rekha Verma (Associate Professor), UIM.
