A trip to Dehradun Zoo was designed to give students insights into wildlife conservation, species diversity, and the important role zoo play in environmental education and preservation. This visit allowed students to observe various species in a controlled environment, enhancing their awareness of animal behaviour, conservation practices, and habitat management. Students have encouraged to prepare dichotomous keys of reptiles and gained the knowledge of biological names of different fauna. A comprehensive tour of the zoo, showcasing a wide variety of species including mammals, birds, fishes and reptiles has been done. Additionally, students were fortified to make detailed observations and take field notes on animal behaviour, feeding patterns, and habitat adaptations. The visit provided a close look at endangered species, their living conditions in captivity, and ongoing efforts for their survival. Students gained valuable insights into the complex relationship between humans and wildlife, including the role of zoos in preserving biodiversity.
